  • Seen as she waits on the staircase, the apparition here , people have claimed, to radiate peace and love. She met her death when a horse and cart delivering beer ran over her outside the pub entrance. However, the ghostly presence reported to haunt the cellar is much more sinister, with has been called ‘truly evil’ by previous licensees. A recent proprietor said, “He is a grumpy old man who growls at you and makes horrible threats’. There has been poltergeist type activity and the sighting of a child from the Victorian era, who is often seen sitting on the stairs. There is the phantom of an elderly man in Victorian style suit in witnessed walking in through a back wall. Apparently, there had been a door at this point. It was bricked up many years ago.
