  • There is a tile hung and brick roadside inn. It was once called Jacob’s Cross. Its name was after a felon who had , authorities executed, for murder. Many years ago, a woman and her daughter heard excited sounds coming from one part of their bedroom. Looking at a wall mirror, they saw a large religious cross appear on it. The image was dark grey, faintly misty, with remained for some time before disappearing. This curious phenomenon was investigated by the proprietor who saw nothing. However, shortly after she had left the room, the shape of a crucifix reappeared. A manager awoke at four am and saw the ghost of a woman in a long white dress, grey shawl and old-fashioned hair net. She was pushing at what had been a door many years ago. However, it was since bricked up. He observed her pushing harder, with she abruptly disappeared through it.
