The Street, Wonersh, Guildford, Surrey

  • A fine town inn, the Grantley Arms has a Second-grade posting and uncovered outside pillars. A spooky monk watches this fifteenth century hotel. A proprietor named it after Baron Grantley of Markenfield, an eighteenth century Member of Parliament. The aristocrat was partial to betting when he possessed this house. Nonetheless, he lost it to his servant in a round of cards. When he shows, he tears down happy enrichments, particularly at Easter and Christmas times. The individuals who have seen him depict the ghost friar as being tall. He wears a dark propensity and what is gives off an impression of being a wooden cross. This cross is on a calfskin thong around his neck. One valiant barmaid attempted to exorcize this meandering friar; on the other hand, without much of any result.
