  • The Globe has always been a popular inn name. It was at one time associated with Portugal. This indicating it was a hostelry that sold Portuguese wines. It was also a simple visual sign for people who were unable to read. The building is from the 16th century. It has fine flag-stoned floors, old beams, and much in the way of brassware. During the mid-1800s, the Globe cellar people used as a mortuary. It has a resident male ghost from that period that frequently appears dressed in a Victorian style suit of black and a dark hat.
