Hyde Rd, Denchworth, Wantage, Oxfordshire

  • For over three centuries, the thatched Fox Inn has accommodated travellers and locals. It is a white building on three storeys with rooms into the thatch. On one corner of the building is an arrangement of nine large horseshoes to protect the inn from witches and other malevolent forces. As protection against evil, these horseshoes have not been completely successful, as there are legends of black clad women seen as phantoms late at night in the Fox. They , listeners hear, conversing, using old-fashioned English words and accent. The road outside the inn exhibits ghostly manifestations. these include a galloping horse that charges in front of cars and then disappears.
