  • The hotel name derives from a small house once owned by a local angler which stands by the river. Many years ago they seem to have had some rather jolly parties there as one of those taking part still haunts the building. For the most part, it is simply heard as a rather upper class voice from the 1930s followed by merry laughter. On several occasions, there has been a mass manifestation of several young women in stylish frocks. Nearby, the 14th century Bickleigh Bridge exhibits ghostly manifestations. These include a headless armoured equestrian galloping over it towards the Fishermans Cot.
