Harberton, Totnes, Devon

  • This inn name is found mainly in Devon. At one time, there were 50 of them in the county. Originally, these were houses. These houses lodged masons and other trades, who built church towers and belfries. This particular Church House holds a Tudor window frame and some 13th century glass. In its past, the building has also been a chantry house for monks, so it is not surprising the resident ghost here is a former monk. Typically, when he manifests, he is wearing a long black habit. He has a wooden cross on his breast. HAYTOR VALE
