  • Over the years, there have been sightings of a little old woman wearing a grey dress at the Blue Anchor. There is no story or legend of who she is. Whenever she manifests, beer taps have suddenly turned off, as well as gas cylinders employed in bringing up the beer from the cellars. One previous proprietor was outside the pub moving crates of beer bottles when he heard a woman’s voice call out "Door, door''. The outside door was closing on him. Had he not caught it in time, he would not have been able to enter for some considerable time. This door had a self-locking device and there was no one inside to let him back in.
