64 High St, Shoreham-by-Sea

  • Smugglers used a secret tunnel down to the nearby waterfront and beach from this inn. Many years ago, a little girl and her nanny drowned in these cellars when they were cut off by a rising tide. A former licensee awoke to find her hair being stroked by ghostly hands, with a phantom woman , witnesses have seen, walking in the cellars with a child. Two psychic mediums investigated these phenomena, with one of them fell down in a swoon and started speaking with a child’s voice. Staff members have reported seeing strange white lights about three feet across. They described these lights as having electric blue outer edges. They then saw ghost of a small red haired child, aged about six, lying on the floor with her hands at her face.
