  • The Running Horses is an 18th century building of three storeys with dormer windows in the roofline. It took its present name in 1828 when two horses owned by the Duke of Rutland, The Colonel and Cadland, ran a dead heat in the Derby. When the race was re-run Cadland won by a neck. The inn exhibits ghostly manifestations including a local farmer said to have died here in mysterious circumstances sometime in the 1800s. There is also the ghost of a woman dressed in a 1920s domestic service uniform complete with a white cap.
