  • The resident indwell at this pub appears as a very elderly man indeed. He is well over 1,000 years old, and dressed in Saxon style of military uniform with metal and leather strips over arms and chest. This warrior is holding a sword and protecting himself with a shield. In addition, a wicked poltergeist has thrown glasses about. There are unearthly sounds coming up from the cellar. A doll, which was discovered in the city in 1960, someone found to be an effigy of a local person who had been cursed by a witch. Part of the curse read, “I hope you never spend another penny I ought to have”. The doll is now in Hereford Museum.
