14 Exe Street, Exeter

  • It is a two centuries old city pub. It exhibits ghostly manifestations. These include the ghost of a previous proprietor. A recent proprietor tells how he was in an upstairs corridor when a man of about forty walked towards him. Dressed in Edwardian style clothing, with bushy hair and spectacles, he looked intently at his successor. After a short inspection, he abruptly turned, walked away, with disappeared through a wall. This apparition manifests every time there is a new licensee. The pub name is after the people who worked in the local paperwork factory opposite that closed over forty years ago. Usually this pub name was after a piece of rope work adorning the tiller post of a narrow canal boat.
