  • The Globe Inn exhibits ghostly manifestations. these include the ghost of a soldier murdered here in 1553. locals knew, as Edward Dobson, , witnesses see him, in the pub and on one occasion, a visitor wished him ‘Good morning’ with no reply. Dobson died in a pub brawl on the premises, with his ghost now appears hovering over the spot where he fell. The apparition , witnesses describe, as having long hair and wearing a cloak. A Birmingham businessperson, staying here, met a figure on the second floor around two am. He wished the person goodnight. The following day he discovered that no other guests were staying here at that time, with no one knew whom the apparition had been. There is legend of a proprietor being murdered at this hostelry by a gypsy in a row over a horse, with that proprietor is still in ghostly residence. This pub is close to Ludlow Castle, with at one time, there was a secret passage between them. During the wars between the Welsh and the English, a prisoner expired by a bowman as he tried to escape from the castle dungeons. His ghost , witnesses have seen, from time to time, staggering about below the town battlements. There have also been sightings of phantoms at a nearby church.
