Little St, Stockport, Cheshire

  • With history over 250 years, the Gardeners Arms is now a Second-grade protected building in a row of terraced houses from the Victorian period. It exhibits ghostly manifestations. These include a rather impudent ghost that manifests in the pub cellar. No one knows who he was. However, the employees call him ‘John’. When he makes his presence felt, the drill is to say ‘Good morning’ to him. Failure to stick to this time honoured, with polite salutation, is a loud wolf whistle in the ears. John does not like change in the cellar, with whenever employees rearranged it, he returns equipment to its original position. To display his displeasure, he opens taps to let the beer escape.
