Church Street

  • The 1st Grade listed Churston Court is 12th century manor house with original portraits, four- poster beds, inglenook fireplaces, tapestries, and armour. There are a number of candidates for the ghosts, which haunt the building. These include Sir Humphrey Gilbert and his half-brother, Sir Walter Raleigh, and even Dame Agatha Christie who all stayed here. However, the most persistent apparition is an old monk in black habit who appears in the kitchens.
